About us

A true food family

Gustatus AB is an organically certified family business, founded in 1999 by us – Stefan and Carla Hägg. It was our deep passion for Italian cuisine, and our belief in the impact food has on our health, that has shaped Gustatus into what it is today. In the beginning, we worked solely on importing Italian raw materials to restaurants around Stockholm. Our business soon grew, however, as demand for Italian raw materials increased across the grocery trade. We began to specialise in developing private label products for the major retail chains and their own brands.

Our brands

Over the years, we have built three strong brands that reflect our values:

• Nonna Elide: A brand that celebrates authentic Italian cuisine and now also includes Spanish products.
• da Carla: A healthy, allergy-friendly range for the whole family, showcasing natural, nutrient-rich alternatives.
• The Plant: A range of plant-based foods, created to make every meal simple, full of flavour and completely vegan. With The Plant, we want to inspire more people to discover just how good and varied plant-based food can be.

Besides our own brands, we are also a distributor for carefully selected producers, Green Vie being one of the bigger names among them. We work continuously to give the Scandinavian market access to genuine, high-quality food.

Sustainability at every step

At Gustatus AB, quality and sustainability go hand in hand. From the choice of raw material producers to our transport solutions, our entire operation is guided by a commitment to minimising our environmental impact. We work with suppliers who meet the highest quality requirements under international standards (IFS and BRC).

Transport is a key part of our sustainability journey, and we have taken several steps to reduce our carbon footprint. Our partners use LNG-powered (Liquefied Natural Gas) vehicles, a cleaner and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuels. LNG significantly reduces emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulates, making transport more sustainable without compromising on efficiency.

For dry goods, such as pasta and other dry foods, we have also started using rail transport as a climate-smart alternative to road transport. Rail is one of the most energy-efficient modes of transport and helps us further reduce our environmental footprint.

We are constantly working to improve and streamline every part of our operations – from production to distribution – to ensure we deliver products of the highest quality with as little impact on the environment as possible.

From us to the shop shelf

Today, Gustatus is a nationwide supplier selling a range of food products to retailers, with our own distribution and a nationwide sales force. Through our knowledge and experience, we give the Scandinavian market access to good, healthy products at the right price.
